Mission Statement

CASA of Wyoming Valley’s mission is to recruit, train and support community volunteers to serve as the voice of abused and neglected children in the Luzerne and Wyoming County court system so that these children will be safe, secure, and given the opportunity to thrive.

CASA of Wyoming Valley | Advocating for children’s safety & stability in Wilkes-Barre

CASA of Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre is a nonprofit child advocacy organization that trains and supports volunteers to serve as court-appointed advocates for abused and neglected children in Luzerne and Wyoming counties. By ensuring these children have a dedicated voice in the courtroom, CASA helps secure their safety, stability and opportunity to thrive. The organization is part of the nationwide CASA network and continues to expand its impact across Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Volunteer Advocacy That Changes Lives

Founded in 2013 as CASA of Luzerne County and renamed in 2024 to reflect expanded services, CASA of Wyoming Valley has matched over 300 children with trained advocates. These volunteers work alongside attorneys, caseworkers and judges to recommend what is best for the child. Studies show that children with CASA volunteers are more likely to find safe, permanent homes and are less likely to re-enter foster care.

How the Community Can Help

CASA offers a flexible and deeply rewarding way to support vulnerable children. Volunteers receive training and ongoing guidance to effectively advocate for a child’s best interests in court. Community members are encouraged to get involved by applying to become advocates or supporting CASA through donations and awareness efforts.

CASA of Wyoming Valley continues to fight for a future where every child in Luzerne and Wyoming counties has the support needed to grow, heal and succeed.
