Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor preserves, interprets and leverages the nationally significant history of the over 165-mile transportation route between Wilkes-Barre and Bristol, Pennsylvania. By building and maintaining public and private partnerships, we create four vital connections.

Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor in Easton is a nonprofit organization working to preserve, interpret, and connect the historic transportation and industrial heritage of eastern Pennsylvania. As a federally designated National Heritage Area, the organization promotes recreation, education, and economic development across a vibrant five-county region.
The corridor spans Luzerne, Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton, and Bucks counties, linking communities through a shared history of canals, railroads, and industry. Luzerne County and Carbon County, located in Northeastern Pennsylvania, mark the northern end of this 165-mile journey, while the trail continues south through the Lehigh Valley and into lower Bucks County.
Programs, Trails & Preservation
At the core of the nonprofit’s work is the D&L Trail, a multi-use path that follows the historic routes of coal, iron, and canal transport. The organization also operates the National Canal Museum, offers heritage education, and supports environmental and cultural conservation projects that engage residents and visitors alike.
Connecting Communities Through Heritage
From preserving natural landscapes to telling stories of the region’s working past, they build connections across generations and geography. Through community partnerships and inclusive programming, the organization ensures the corridor’s legacy remains accessible and meaningful for all.
