Mission Statement

Epilepsy Foundation Eastern Pennsylvania’s mission is to stop seizures and SUDEP, find a cure and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy through efforts including education, advocacy and research to accelerate ideas into therapies.

Epilepsy Foundation Eastern PA Northeast Region | Empowering Individuals with Epilepsy in Wilkes-Barre

Epilepsy Foundation Eastern PA Northeast Region in Wilkes-Barre, PA covers Luzerne, Lackawanna, Pike, Wayne, Wyoming and Susquehanna Counties. The nonprofit provides help and support for individuals living with epilepsy and their families. Through free programs, advocacy and community education, the organization works to reduce stigma, promote seizure safety and improve quality of life across Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Their team connects families with reliable information and personalized guidance. Individuals can meet at the regional center to receive educational materials and have questions answered about living with epilepsy.

Training That Saves Lives

The foundation provides Seizure Recognition and First Aid training to schools, including teachers and students, as well as police officers, EMTs and first responders. These sessions equip communities with the tools to respond confidently and safely during a seizure. Many trainings offer continuing education credits.

By increasing public awareness and preparedness, the organization strengthens safety throughout the six-county region.

Ongoing Support & Youth Programs

Each month, the nonprofit hosts an in-person support meeting for individuals and families. Staff also assist with IEP and 504 plan guidance, helping students access necessary accommodations in school.

Youth and young adults can participate in retreats designed to build independence and connection. In August, the organization holds a week-long sleepaway camp for children ages 8 to 17, creating a safe space for fun and peer support.

Community Events That Fuel the Mission

Annual fundraisers include the Walk for Epilepsy and the Strike Out Epilepsy bowl-a-thon. These events raise critical funds while building awareness and community engagement.

The Epilepsy Foundation Eastern PA Northeast Region delivers free education, advocacy and compassionate support to individuals and families affected by epilepsy throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
