Friends of the Bloomsburg Town Pool | Revitalizing a beloved community pool in Bloomsburg

Friends of the Bloomsburg Town Pool in Bloomsburg is a nonprofit dedicated to bringing the Norris Rock Pool back to life. Formed in 2020, the group grew out of the Town Park Improvement Association and now leads efforts to fundraise, advocate, and plan for the pool’s future. Volunteers have hosted events, applied for grants, and encouraged the community to join in supporting the project.

History of the Pool

The Bloomsburg Town Pool first opened in 1955 and last underwent renovations in 1995. It has been an essential recreational space for families across the Bloomsburg and Central Columbia School Districts. With thousands enjoying it each summer, the pool hosted camps, swim lessons, lap swimming, and community gatherings. After its closure in 2018 due to needed repairs, the Friends worked to raise funds to bring it back. Construction began in 2021 with the goal of restoring the pool for generations to come.

Renovation Project

The $1.2 million project includes a renovated Main Pool with a new liner and deck, competitive swim lanes, and ADA-compliant features. A new wading pool with zero-entry access and water features is also planned, along with bathhouse upgrades, a new slide, plumbing updates, and other infrastructure improvements. Architectural guidance and town council support ensured the design met both modern standards and community needs.

Friends of the Bloomsburg Town Pool in Bloomsburg continues to rally local support, ensuring this cherished pool remains a cornerstone of recreation for the entire community.
