Hazleton Area Recreation Program (HARP) | Building strength and character through athletics in Hazleton, PA
The Hazleton Area Recreation Program (HARP) is a nonprofit athletic outreach organization helping people of all ages develop physical and mental resilience. Based in Hazleton, HARP operates a 22,000-square-foot facility equipped with a gym, indoor turf fields and batting cages. Their programs promote the physical benefits of athletic training alongside the mental and emotional strength gained from discipline, teamwork and healthy habits.
Programs Rooted in Purpose
Originally founded as the Hazleton Boxing Club in 2014, HARP started with a mission to serve at-risk youth through the sport of boxing. Today, the organization offers much more. In addition to boxing, HARP now includes strength training, injury prevention, and youth development programs. Their Guided Discovery Program provides after-school care and engaging fitness games for children ages 6 to 12.
Empowering the Community
HARP fosters a safe, structured and welcoming space where athletes of all backgrounds can train and grow. Whether training to compete or simply seeking healthier routines, participants find inspiration in a supportive, inclusive environment. Community involvement, generous donations and devoted volunteers help sustain and expand HARP’s mission.
The Hazleton Area Recreation Program continues to empower the Greater Hazleton community by offering a positive outlet for energy, confidence and personal growth.
