Maternal & Family Health Services (MFHS), based in Wilkes-Barre, is a nonprofit health and human services organization dedicated to supporting women, children, and families across Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania. With a compassionate, community-first approach, MFHS empowers individuals to lead healthier lives through accessible care, preventative services, and education.
MFHS reaches nine counties in NEPA—Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties. Working through a network of service locations and partner organizations, MFHS ensures critical resources reach those who need them most—when and where they’re needed.
Holistic Care for Every Life Stage
Programs at MFHS are designed to meet both immediate health needs and long-term wellness goals. Services include reproductive health care at MFHS Circle of Care Scranton, family planning, health education, and preventive screenings. MFHS also provides prenatal and postpartum support, including the Nurse-Family Partnership, which pairs first-time parents with personal nurse mentors during pregnancy and beyond.
MFHS proudly operates Pennsylvania’s Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, offering nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and healthy food benefits. Their dental and oral health programs ensure children and adults receive comprehensive, preventive care to promote lifelong wellness.
