McGlynn Center | Education, support & safe spaces for youth in Wilkes-Barre
The McGlynn Center is a nonprofit organization providing a safe, nurturing environment for children and adolescents living in Wilkes-Barre’s Boulevard Townhomes and Mineral Springs Village. Since 1988, the Center has been committed to serving vulnerable youth through education, enrichment, and mentorship—completely free of charge.
Educational & Enrichment Programs
The Center offers after-school tutoring and supervised recreational and cultural activities to help students grow academically and socially. The programs are designed to build confidence, foster curiosity, and provide a consistent support system for children facing economic challenges. All services are available exclusively to youth residing in the two designated housing communities.
Community-Funded with Lasting Impact
Funded entirely by donations, the Center is staffed by three full-time employees and a dedicated group of volunteers. Each year, the organization serves around 150 children and teens. Its legacy of positive influence is unmatched—no child who has participated in the program has ever entered the Juvenile Justice System.
