The mission of the Sheppton-Oneida Volunteer Fire Company is to systematically and professionally protect the lives and property of the residents and visitors of East Union Township and surrounding areas. This is accomplished by providing the highest quality fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to anyone in need, through the dedication of highly trained volunteers, using the best equipment and resources available. We have a mindset towards training, fire prevention, safety, service, and progression.

The Sheppton-Oneida Volunteer Fire Company (SOVFC) has proudly served East Union Township in Schuylkill County since 1933. This all-volunteer emergency service organization covers 26 square miles and protects the villages of Sheppton, Oneida, Brandonville, Phinneyville, Girard Manor, Cove Village, Eagle Rock Resort and Humboldt Industrial Park West. With a commitment to rapid, professional response, SOVFC provides vital fire suppression, rescue and emergency support to the local community.

The company maintains a versatile fleet that includes an engine, tanker, squad, utility vehicle and UTV, allowing responders to handle a wide range of emergencies. From residential fires to rural incidents and industrial calls, the department’s volunteers are trained and equipped to deliver prompt and effective assistance.
Community-Funded & Community-Focused
SOVFC raises essential funds through ongoing community events like online raffles, lottery calendars and the popular “52 Gun Extravaganza.” These efforts support equipment upkeep and operational readiness. The company also offers a fully equipped hall with a commercial kitchen for private rentals, helping fund services while serving as a gathering space for local events.
