Stuart Tank Memorial Association | Honoring WWII History & Berwick’s Manufacturing Legacy
The Stuart Tank Memorial Association in Berwick is a nonprofit organization working to preserve the legacy of the locally built Stuart Light Tank and the community that helped shape history. The association’s mission is to establish a permanent memorial honoring the workers of the American Car & Foundry Company in Berwick, which produced over 15,000 Stuart tanks during World War II. These tanks played a crucial role in the war effort and were operated by American and Allied troops around the world.
Preserving Local & National History
The planned Stuart Tank Memorial will serve as a lasting tribute to the men and women who built these machines on the home front and to the soldiers who rode them into battle. The memorial aims to honor the industrial strength and patriotic spirit of Berwick while educating future generations about the town’s contribution to global freedom.
Educational Outreach & Presentations
In addition to its preservation efforts, the organization offers educational presentations for schools, community groups and organizations. These programs highlight the historical importance of the Stuart Light Tank and the role of American Car & Foundry, helping to keep local history alive and relevant.
