Mission Statement
The Lands at Hillside Farms is a historic, non-profit 501(c)(3) 428-acre educational dairy farm. Our mission is to teach life choices that are healthy, logical, and sustainable so that those born 200 years from now will have access to the same or better opportunities and resources. The Lands at Hillside Farms belongs to everyone. When you purchase our products you are not only supporting the physical property, you are supporting a healthier and higher quality of life for you and your family.

The Lands at Hillside Farms in Shavertown is a 412-acre nonprofit educational dairy farm that blends hands-on learning with sustainable living. As both a working farm and living classroom, Hillside invites visitors to connect with the land through education, agriculture and meaningful community experiences. With programs for students, a variety of local products and a strong volunteer spirit, this unique destination supports environmental stewardship and lifelong learning.
Local Goods & Farm Fresh Products
Visitors to Hillside Farms can shop for over 100 locally made products, including their famous ice cream, grass-based beef, GMO-free chicken, pastured pork and eggs, and organically grown vegetables. The Mercantile features hand-milled soaps, cosmetics and artisan accessories, while The Potting Shed offers rustic furniture and one-of-a-kind home accents.
Education Through Experience
Each year, Hillside welcomes thousands of students to learn side-by-side with educators and animals. Programs for grades K–12 meet Pennsylvania Academic Standards and cover topics like science, agriculture, nutrition, ecology, conservation and sustainable living. These lessons promote environmental awareness and help foster responsible citizenship.
Community Powered by Volunteers
Volunteers are essential to the daily operations of Hillside Farms. From animal care and gardening to office support and event planning, volunteers contribute their time and talent toward the farm’s mission. The farm celebrates those who measure their impact by progress, not the clock.
