Mission Statement

Susquehanna Valley United Way mobilizes communities to action so all can thrive. Serving Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union Counties, the organization focuses on four key areas: Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, Financial Security and Community Resiliency. Through partnerships and community collaboration, Susquehanna Valley United Way works to build a stronger, more resilient future for residents across the region.

Susquehanna Valley United Way | Supporting Families & Communities in Bloomsburg

Susquehanna Valley United Way in Bloomsburg serves Columbia County in NEPA as well as  Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union Counties by mobilizing resources and partnerships to address local needs. The nonprofit organization focuses on key areas including youth opportunity, financial security, health and community resilience. Through collaboration with local partners, they work to strengthen families and improve quality of life across a five-county region. Their approach combines direct services with funding and coordination of essential programs.

Family Support & Basic Needs

Susquehanna Valley United Way offers direct services like the Confidence Closet, providing free professional clothing for individuals preparing for interviews or important life events. They also help administer funding through programs like the Emergency Food and Shelter Program, supporting local agencies that provide critical assistance. These efforts help ensure residents have access to basic needs and opportunities for stability.

Parenting, Recovery & Education Programs

The organization leads several family-focused initiatives, including Parents as Teachers, Triple P and Active Parenting classes. Programs like the 24:7 Dad course support fathers in building stronger relationships with their children. Through United in Recovery, they provide prevention education, Narcan distribution and post-overdose support services. Additional programs include virtual tutoring through United We Learn and free tax preparation through VITA, helping individuals and families build long-term stability.
