Mission Statement
Valhalla Veterans Services’ mission is to stop suicides in the Warrior Community.
Valhalla Veterans Services | Crisis support & suicide prevention for heroes in Shickshinny
Valhalla Veterans Services (VVS) in Shickshinny is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preventing suicide within the Warrior Community. Founded by veterans for veterans, the organization offers free counseling, crisis intervention and life-saving training for military service members, first responders and their families. Its mission is rooted in connection, purpose and hope.
Free Counseling & Peer Support
VVS provides individual, group, family and marriage counseling at no cost to veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard, law enforcement, firefighters and EMTs. Since 2018, they’ve delivered hundreds of counseling hours to heroes and their loved ones. No one is turned away due to lack of insurance—grants and donations help ensure continued access.
Training to Save Lives
Through the Valhalla Gatekeeper Program, VVS offers Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) to equip community members with tools to recognize and respond to suicidal behavior. Over 130 individuals have been trained through free workshops that give everyday people the confidence to intervene and save lives.
Valhalla Veterans Services brings compassionate mental health support, suicide prevention and connection to the heroes who serve in Shickshinny and beyond.
