BAYADA Home Health Care – Wilkes-Barre, PA
Founded in 1975 in Philadelphia by Mark Baiada, BAYADA Home Health Care began with a simple but powerful mission: to help people stay safe and healthy at home. Using his life savings, Mark launched what would become the largest non-profit home health care company in the world.
Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, BAYADA provides care across 23 states and in five countries. Though the organization has grown tremendously, its family-centered culture remains strong, with Mark’s son, David Baiada, now serving as CEO. BAYADA offers a wide range of services through more than 300 offices nationwide, including nursing, rehabilitative, therapeutic, hospice, and personal care.

Compassionate Care, Comprehensive Services
At a local level, BAYADA bring these services right to our backyards in Northeastern Pennsylvania. “The office I oversee in Wilkes-Barre provides personal care services to adults with disabilities, seniors, and veterans. These services are provided by home health aides and allow vulnerable individuals to live a safe home life with comfort and dignity.” says Michael Stacey, Director, BAYADA Home Health Care – Wilkes Barre State Programs office.
What sets BAYADA apart is its commitment to excellence and advocacy. Michael explains, “I’m proud to say that my office has consistently scored 90%+, which is nearly 30% higher than the average industry score. Our clients know we don’t care solely about delivering their home care services, but that we truly care about them as individuals. We strive to do everything we can to get them the help they need and these scores indicate that.”
BAYADA also leads the way in advocacy through its Hearts for Home Care program, which is designed to engage BAYADA and non-BAYADA employees and clients in sharing the importance of home care with decision makers in Harrisburg, Washington D.C., and elsewhere. “This is another way that we are able to show our caregivers, clients, and families that we don’t just care for them – we care about them.”
Mission in Action
“At BAYADA Home Health Care, we strive to serve a special purpose—to help individuals in need have a safe home life with comfort, independence, and dignity. We provide nursing, rehabilitative, therapeutic, hospice, and personal care services to children, adults, and seniors worldwide. We care for our clients up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” says Michael. “Families coping with significant illness or disability need help and support while caring for a family member. Our goal at BAYADA is to provide the highest quality home health care services available. We believe our clients and their families deserve home health care delivered with compassion, excellence, and reliability, our BAYADA core values.”
In addition to providing professional care services to individuals in the Wyoming Valley, being active members of the community is immensely important to the BAYADA team, and to BAYADA as a whole. They regularly participate in food drives and events like The Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
One recent moment that captured BAYADA’s mission in action was, “We had one of our clients who is a quadriplegic throw out the first pitch at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRider’s game! It was a great event and moment for him and our staff who has worked with him for over 10 years,” says Michael. “This encompasses what we are trying to do: Give people facing physical obstacles the resources and opportunities to live an independent and happy life.
