The importance of conserving and caring for Northeastern Pennsylvania’s precious lands and waters… forever

Conservation is an essential practice that sustains life on Earth, not just for wildlife and ecosystems, but for humans, too.

Conservation Protects Biodiversity

Have you ever sat back and watched as a pollen-dusted bumble bee happily buzzes from flower to flower? Or a fluttering monarch butterfly on milkweed? Perhaps a squirrel scampering through the yard trying to remember where exactly that last-Fall acorn was buried?

Small moments we witness in everyday life play a large role in Biodiversity, whether we recognize it or not. Biodiversity is the variety of all life on Earth – from the microscopic organisms and fungi, to plants and animals (including us anthropoids.) These diverse species play a crucial role in the upkeep of our ecosystems, from pollination to pest control, disease prevention and environmental resilience to change.

Preserving natural resources for the next generations

The conservation of ecosystems ensures our most coveted resources like clean water, food, medicine and other raw materials are available for future generations. Without protection of these resource wielding areas (think forests, oceans and freshwater systems), the risk of scarcity and ecological collapse becomes that much more likely.
