Imagine a Public Transportation Service that Adapts to Your Schedule, Not the Other Way Around

Launched in November 2024 by the Luzerne County Transportation Authority (LCTA), LCTA CONNECTS brings a new level of flexibility to your travel options. Whether you’re heading to work, a local appointment, or running errands, LCTA CONNECTS allows you to book a ride when YOU need it, offering the convenience of on-demand service at your fingertips.

Much like popular ride-share platforms or on-demand Uber service, you can easily request a ride through the LCTA CONNECTS app, available for download from the Apple Store or Google Play. You can also book through the web booking portal.

Here’s How It Works

Cost

LCTA CONNECTS is only $1.75 per one-way trip and is FREE for seniors with a registered Free Fare ID card. Passengers who use a Reduced Fare card pay 85 cents. You can use your SmartPay card, pay cash, or use a multi-ride pass. If you are transferring to a fixed route bus, the transfer is free within an hour of use.

Booking your Ride

There are two booking options:

“Book Now”: This option is for those moments when you need to book a ride on short notice. For a same-day pickup, simply request your ride close to the time you need it. You’ll be guaranteed a 30-minute pickup window.

“Pre-Book”: If you want to plan ahead, you can pre-book your ride for the next day, with bookings available until 5 p.m. the day before. This option is not available for same-day travel, so be sure to use “Book Now” for last-minute trips.

Service Zones and Connections

LCTA CONNECTS operates in three zones within Luzerne County, including the CenterPoint-Grimes-Pittston zone, the Hanover Industrial Park zone, and the Nanticoke-Glen Lyon zone.

These zones offer seamless connections to LCTA’s fixed route buses, enhancing your public transportation options. If your trip is within the zone, you can use the van for your entire roundtrip.

*Rides must be booked for travel within the service zone boundaries and within travel times.

LCTA CONNECTS service runs on weekdays and Saturdays, with hours tailored to each zone. If weather conditions or road closures affect the fixed routes, LCTA CONNECTS will adjust accordingly, providing alternative routes for safe and efficient travel.

With LCTA CONNECTS, getting where you need to go has never been easier or more flexible.
