MFG Day Highlights NEPA Manufacturing Sector

Mark your calendar for October 13th

Manufacturing production companies and the jobs they create locally make up a sizable portion of the workforce in NEPA. In fact, many of the top businesses that sell nationally and globally can even be found in our homes today. From a well-known brand like Ball, to CANPACK, who creates Monster Energy and Bubly Sparkling Water cans, to Gentex Corporation, providing global defense forces with safety gear, the impact of these Northeastern, Pennsylvania-based companies is far-reaching.

As such a vital global sector, the industry recognizes all manufacturing businesses during National Manufacturing Week, observed October 6-13 this year. The week-long celebration’s goal is to honor the contributions of the manufacturing sector as well as to highlight and promote manufacturing careers.

On Friday, October 13, Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center (NEPIRC) will host their annual MFG Day, a networking event featuring nearly 40 of NEPA’s manufacturing producers. Their goal is to showcase what modern manufacturing looks like and inspire the next generation of creators.

The day includes the opportunity to network and socialize with over 100 exhibitors. You’ll also have the chance to view demonstrations of cutting-edge robotics and other interactive activities, learn more about products made right here in NEPA, attend panel discussions, including those on leadership and cybersecurity, breakout groups, and hear from Crayola COO, Pete Ruggiero.

Students who are interested in trade careers can explore Johnson College’s Mobile Technology Lab and meet the young manufacturing professionals who are part of NEPIRC’s Manufacturing Ambassador Dream Team.
