“Ain’t no party like a Scranton party…”

A colorful – and huge – tribute to Scranton’s favorite television series, The Office, is coming to the city’s downtown.

Scranton Tomorrow announced its upcoming mural, The Story of Us: The Office’s relationship with Scranton. This one-of-a-kind art piece will capture the relationship between The Office’s hometown and its beloved characters. The design features large-scale black and white portraits of the 17 characters, contrasted with a colorful geometric pattern background, imagery, and quotes that represent significant objects and moments throughout the show’s nine seasons.

Fans of The Office (and Scranton) Can Help

Scranton Tomorrow is currently raising funds to support the creation of the massive, 30’ X 120’ mural. Show your love for all things Dunder Mifflin, bears, beets and Battlestar Galactica by donating today.

When complete, The Story of Us: The Office’s relationship with Scranton, will join Danseur de Corde (found at 328 Penn Avenue) and The Dream, at the corner of Mulberry Street and Adams Avenue. Danseur de Corde or “Rope Dancer,” is an homage to Scranton’s history as an important stop on the vaudeville circuit. The Dream is a mural inspire by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Soon visitors who wish to know more about the murals can scan the QR code posted at each site, allowing visitors to use their smartphones to embark on brief, self-guided tours.

Scranton Tomorrow’s Mural Arts Program is a public art initiative that promotes history, culture, diversity and creativity. Launched in 2021, the program’s vision is to transform the downtown landscape and reflect the City’s history and everything that make Scranton unique.
