The Holiday Express: Steamtown Excursion to Moscow invites riders to enjoy a festive round trip from Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton from Friday, November 28 through Sunday, November 30. This three hour experience departs at 11 a.m. each day and offers a scenic journey through the Roaring Brook gorge and northeastern hardwood forests.
The train ride to Moscow lasts about forty minutes and gives passengers plenty of opportunities to view wildlife, seasonal scenery, and historic railroad structures. The excursion includes a one hour forty five minute layover at Moscow Station, where visitors can explore the Victorian era freight and passenger stations designed by Frank J. Nies.
During the layover, guests can browse train memorabilia, historic photos, books, and souvenirs offered by the Lackawanna and Wyoming Valley Railroad Historical Society. Light snacks, beverages, and hot dogs are also available for purchase.
