Jo Adang: Dynamic Landscapes: from Ordinary to EXTRAordinary takes place at the Hazleton Art League in Hazleton on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Tuesday, March 3 through Thursday, March 26, 2026, meeting from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM for an expressive landscape painting series for adults.
This class focuses on helping painters move beyond simply reproducing a scene and instead interpret what they see and feel while painting. Students will explore techniques that add energy, mood, and personal expression to landscapes—skills that translate well to en plein air painting and studio work from photo references.
Open to adults ages 18 and older, the series encourages experimentation and creative freedom while building confidence in composition, color, and mark-making.
Materials to Bring:
- Sketchbook and pencil
- 3 brushes (Flat or Bright) in #6, #8, #10
- 5–6 canvases (stretched or panel), larger than 9×12
- Oil or acrylic paints (essential colors): Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, Titanium White
- Palette
- Water or solvent container
- Apron or old clothing
- Box for carrying supplies and wet paintings
Nonmember Cost: $175 (includes $15 material fee)
