Joe Pecora and Carl Frankel: Introduction to Microphotography | Hazleton Art League, Hazleton

Saturday–Sunday, February 21–22, 2026 | 2:00–4:00 PM

Joe Pecora and Carl Frankel: Introduction to Microphotography takes place at the Hazleton Art League in Hazleton on Saturday, February 21 and Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, inviting participants to photograph a world that’s usually invisible to the naked eye.

In this hands-on workshop, attendees will use microscopes to capture striking images of prepared slides and their own found objects, creating photographs that reveal surprising textures, patterns, and details. After shooting, participants will learn how to edit, enhance, and stylize their microphotography in the Hazleton Art League’s computer lab.

The program is led by Joseph Pecora, a professional photographer and state-certified wild mushroom forager, and Carl Frankel, PhD, a retired Penn State biology professor. No materials are required. The workshop is held in the Digital Art Lab and is open to adults and teens ages 16 and older.
