North Pole Limited | Steamtown National Historic Site, Scranton

December 7, 13, 14, 19, 20 & 21, 2025 | Various Departure Times

The North Pole Limited at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton on December 7, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 21, 2025, departs at various times for a 120-minute holiday adventure through the historic rail yard and Nay Aug Park. This family favorite blends festive museum activities with a magical train ride filled with classic Christmas cheer.

The experience begins inside the museum, where families explore a winter wonderland of twinkling lights, themed photo backdrops, and holiday music. Children can write letters at the Santa Letter Station, enjoy hands-on activities, and take photos before hearing the eagerly-awaited call to board the train.

During the hour-long ride, passengers can sing along with live musicians playing Christmas carols as the train rolls through sparkling seasonal scenery. Santa greets each family along the route, while Mrs. Claus shares a small gift with every child to make the moment even more memorable.

After returning to the station, the celebration continues with cookies, hot cocoa, and additional holiday activities throughout the museum. Each step of the journey is designed to create lasting memories and celebrate the joy of the season.

All ticket proceeds benefit the Iron Horse Society, a nonprofit supporting preservation, education, and railroad heritage at Steamtown National Historic Site.
