Pysanky Workshop | The Crooked Branch, West Pittston
Friday, March 13, 2026 | 5:30 PM
Pysanky Workshop takes place at The Crooked Branch in West Pittston on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 5:30 PM, offering a hands-on introduction to the traditional Ukrainian art of decorating eggs with wax and dye.
Led by Mary Anne, this process-focused workshop teaches the fundamentals of creating a pysanka egg. Participants will draw designs on a real egg using melted beeswax, dip the egg into a series of dyes, and then remove the wax to reveal the layered pattern beneath. A pre-drawn design is provided to help guide the experience.
Each participant will complete one raw egg, which will be blown out in class to take home. The workshop also includes an imported Ukrainian kistka tool to keep, along with informational printouts to continue designing eggs independently. Class size is limited to allow for focused instruction and a relaxed learning environment.
Pysanky is recognized by UNESCO as part of Ukraine’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, reflecting its deep artistic and cultural significance.
