Something Rotten – an SCC Youth Theatre Program Production | Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple, Scranton

Friday, January 23 & Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 PM & 7:00 PM

Something Rotten – an SCC Youth Theatre Program Production brings big laughs to the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple in Scranton on Friday, January 23 and Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 PM & 7:00 PM. This high-energy musical comedy follows brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom as they struggle to write a hit play while competing with the legendary “Bard” of the Renaissance stage.

Set in the 1590s, the story kicks into gear when a local soothsayer predicts that the future of theatre will include singing, dancing and acting all at once. Determined to outshine Shakespeare, the Bottom brothers attempt to create the world’s very first musical, leading to hilarious misunderstandings, outrageous production numbers and plenty of theatrical in-jokes.

Featuring young performers in grades 8–12, this SCC Youth Theatre Program production showcases emerging talent through big ensemble scenes, clever lyrics and exuberant choreography. Families, theatre lovers and comedy fans alike will enjoy the playful spin on classic theatre traditions and the show’s uplifting message about creativity and staying true to yourself.

Tickets range from $8–$16 in advance and $12–$20 on the day of the show. All performances feature reserved seating.
