Celebrating Tradition: Highlights from Noxen's Annual Rattlesnake Roundup
This past weekend, we made our way to Noxen for the annual Rattlesnake Roundup. Since 1986, the Noxen Volunteer Fire Company has organized this event, which has grown to be their largest fundraiser of the year. The turnout was impressive, and with the number of activities (and snakes!) we can certainly see why.
The event focused on education, with volunteers working to dispel common misconceptions about these animals. It was interesting to see how docile the snakes were, but even more striking was their vibrant coloration. Snake handlers were available to answer questions and did an excellent job educating the public.
Despite its name, the Rattlesnake Roundup offered much more than just snakes. Food vendors, craft booths, and live music provided entertainment for everyone. And surrounding communities also joined in the festivities during the fireman’s parade.
If you missed the event this time around, be sure to mark your calendars for next Father’s Day weekend. It’s certainly something you’re not going to want to miss. For more information, check out the Noxen Volunteer Fire Co Rattlesnake Roundup Facebook page.
