Patchtown Days at Eckley Miners' Village: A Celebration of Coalcracker Culture
Today, we stopped by Eckley Miners’ Village in Weatherly for their Patchtown Days festival. This annual event celebrates NEPA’s rich history of anthracite mining and the lives of the people who made it happen.
Walking the main street of the village, we caught glimpses of NEPA’s past and present. The preserved homes offered insight into the lives of the families who lived and worked here over the last 150 years. Local vendors paid homage to that homespun spirit of Anthracite miners with a selection of goods all made right here in NEPA.
We grabbed lunch and a beer from Conyngham Brewing Company and enjoyed live music and demonstrations of traditional crafts like broom making, basket weaving and subsistence gardening.
The festivities run from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday but be sure to stick around for the first-ever Bluegrass Dis-Patch, a bluegrass concert featuring performances by The Dishonest Fiddlers and Serene Green on Saturday at 4pm.
