Out Of This World Fun at the Carbondalien Festival
Over the weekend, we joined fellow believers and curious Earthlings for the second annual Carbondalien Festival, and it was truly out of this world! People from near and far gathered in Carbondale to celebrate all things extraterrestrial, many showing off their alien pride with creative costumes and cosmic flair.
Rows of vendors offered everything from handmade crafts to UFO-themed treats, while local craft beverage vendors kept spirits high with plenty of samples to go around. Throughout the day, a lineup of supernatural speakers shared their own mysterious encounters and theories, adding just the right amount of intrigue. Visitors even had the chance to catch a once-in-a-lifetime view during the alien hot air balloon rides.
But the highlight of the night, and really the reason behind all the alien buzz, was the reenactment of the legendary Carbondale UFO incident of 1974. That night, a bright red, whirring object was seen by teenagers and allegedly crashed into the silt pond at Russell Park. The story quickly became local legend, with witnesses describing a glowing area in the water for hours and government officials arriving soon after.
With great food, unique photo ops, and an atmosphere that was equal parts spooky and spectacular, the Carbondalien Festival once again proved that this little corner of NEPA is ready for takeoff.
