Marywood University Lights Up the Rotunda with Its Annual Merry & Bright Holiday Event
Last night, students, staff and members of the community gathered in the rotunda at Marywood University for their annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. The Merry & Bright celebration drew a large crowd who circled around the tree for the countdown. When the lights switched on, applause filled the space and the student choir carried the moment with Christmas carols that set the tone for the night.
Guests moved outside where hot chocolate waited and tables were stocked with everything needed to make s’mores over the open fire. Real reindeer from Spruce Ridge Reindeer quickly became a fan favorite, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus spent the evening greeting families and posing for photos.
Inside the Learning Commons, the Christmas Craft Fair brought a steady stream of shoppers. Vendors filled the space with handmade items and seasonal gifts, while visitors browsed decorated Christmas Trees created by students and voted for their favorite design. The Grinch also made an appearance, camping out by the dumpster and handing onions and potatoes to anyone brave enough to approach. He complained the entire time but still paused for a few photos.
It was a festive night from start to finish. Check Marywood University’s upcoming schedule of events to see what other holiday activities are planned for the season.
