Cresco Station Museum | Restored Railroad History & Local Heritage in Cresco
Cresco Station Museum in Cresco preserves the powerful legacy of railroads and local life in Barrett Township. Originally opened in 1851 as part of the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western (DL&W) Railroad, the station served freight and passenger trains for over 115 years, transporting hatchery fish, ice, timber, and thousands of tourists to the Pocono Mountains.
After closing in 1967 and sitting abandoned for decades, the station was restored and reopened to the community in 1999 through the efforts of the Weiler Family Foundation. Now operated by the Barrett Township Historical Society, the museum features Civil War memorabilia, railroad history, and artifacts unique to the local area.
Cresco Station Museum also supports community arts and culture with monthly programs. Art shows are held the second Sunday of each month from 1–4 p.m., and live music performances take place on the fourth Sunday, June through September, during the same hours.
This restored historic site remains a meaningful place to explore local heritage through exhibits, music, and art.
