Forest Echo Bird Sanctuary | Peaceful woodland refuge in Dallas

Forest Echo Bird Sanctuary in Dallas is a 17-acre nature preserve protected by the North Branch Land Trust. Once a summer retreat for Rachel and Dr. Sarah Wyckoff, the land was later entrusted to Wyoming Seminary with the request to preserve it as a bird sanctuary. In 2013, North Branch Land Trust acquired the property to ensure its continued conservation and public access.

A Haven for Birds & Wildlife

The sanctuary provides vital habitat for local wildlife and helps protect the watershed of the nearby Huntsville Reservoir. Visitors can explore a 0.6-mile loop trail that winds through a bustling forest filled with songbirds, woodpeckers, and birds of prey. Along the trail, it’s common to see chipmunks, squirrels, and the resident herd of white-tailed deer.

Plan Your Visit

Located off West Center Hill Road about a mile from Route 415, the sanctuary features a small timber-framed parking area near the Old Wishing Well. The trail begins and ends at this spot, creating a quiet and scenic loop through the forest. Forest Echo Bird Sanctuary remains a cherished community conservation success thanks to the efforts of Wyoming Seminary, North Branch Land Trust, and local supporters.

Forest Echo Bird Sanctuary in Dallas offers serene woodland trails and essential wildlife habitat for visitors to enjoy year-round.
