Located less than 20 miles from Scranton, Lake Winola is a country paradise just outside the bustle of the city. This 185-acre lake is managed by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. It offers year-round fishing and is stocked with trout. A public boat launch is located near the intersection of Lake Road and PA-307.
The lakeshore is lined with permanent residences and summer homes. Spend a few weeks in a vacation rental, and you’ll feel like a local in no time.
The annual Water Carnival is the event of the year at Lake Winola. Every August, participants decorate their boats, dress up in crazy costumes, and compete to see who has the best display.
