Constructed in 1906, this grand inn welcomed thousands of guests at a time when Delaware Water Gap was one of the most popular inland destinations in the country, attracting over 500,000 visitors a year. Today, visitors can explore its fascinating history through engaging guided tours that bring the past to life.

Step Back in Time

The guided walking tour of The Castle Inn is a journey through eras. Built in the days of the Titanic and Henry Ford’s Model T, the inn once hosted elite travelers from New York City and Philadelphia. Historically, visitors arrived by train to enjoy the region’s beauty and culture. Guests will learn about the history of Delaware Water Gap, the inn itself, and the rich music heritage that shaped the community.

A Storied Legacy

From John Philip Sousa performing in the Music Hall to professional boxers training for Madison Square Garden bouts, The Castle Inn has seen decades of remarkable moments. In 1952, Fred Waring purchased the property and made it the home of his music empire, including Shawnee Press and the famous Waring Blender. Today, owners Frank and Theresa Paccione continue to lovingly restore the building, honoring its heritage while welcoming visitors to experience its grandeur once again.

Tour Details

Public tours of this historic site are held Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Guests meet in the lobby of The Shoppes at Castle Inn for a guided walking tour that blends history, architecture, and music culture. Private tours are also available by appointment. Leashed pets are welcome, making it a family-friendly experience for all.
