The Hideaway | Books & bourbon with vintage flair in Stroudsburg
The Hideaway cocktail bar in Stroudsburg blends vintage style, classic cocktails, and a quiet literary vibe. Located beneath Newberry’s Yard of Ale, this speakeasy-style lounge revives its original charm with a moody, Prohibition-inspired design. Guests can settle into leather couches by the fire, explore over 800 books, and enjoy a bourbon old-fashioned or a martini in one of five cozy sections.
Owner Barry Lynch added personal touches throughout the space. He kept original 1870s wood beams and used reclaimed bricks for an authentic feel. The walls display portraits of Irish authors, including a standout painting called “Remember Ireland” behind the bar. With a secret-code entrance and classic décor, The Hideaway feels exclusive but welcoming.
Visitors can unwind with handcrafted drinks, enjoy thoughtful conversation, or simply relax with a good book. Whether you’re visiting with friends or flying solo, this bar offers a quiet, stylish escape in downtown Stroudsburg.
