Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Roller Derby | High-impact action & fierce teamwork in NEPA
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Roller Derby brings fierce athleticism and community spirit to the roller derby scene in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Founded in 2009 through a chance meeting in a tattoo shop, this all-female, skater-operated league has become a symbol of empowerment, resilience and strength across NEPA. The league is 100% athlete-run and driven by teamwork, energy and love of the game.
The league includes three home teams—Coal City Breakers, Diamond City Mayhem and Electric City Shockers. Each team brings distinct style and high-impact action to local bouts. For sanctioned inter-league matchups, the league fields two travel teams. The A-Team competes in official Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) events. The B-Team, known as the Low Rolling Deuces, builds skills while facing teams from Albany, Schenectady, State College and more.
The league joined WFTDA in 2014, expanding its reach to national competition. Skaters now represent NEPA in matches across the Northeast. On and off the track, the organization promotes teamwork, fitness and personal empowerment. From practices to bouts, fans experience nonstop energy and raw athleticism.
