Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Roller Derby | High-impact action & fierce teamwork in NEPA
Founded from a chance meeting in a tattoo shop in 2009, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Roller Derby has grown into NEPA’s only all-female, skater-operated roller derby league. Known for its adrenaline-pumping action, tight-knit community, and empowering atmosphere, the league has become a local force both on and off the track.
The league is composed of three home teams—the Coal City Breakers, Diamond City Mayhem, and Electric City Shockers—each bringing its own distinct style and fierce energy to intra-league competition. For bouts against teams from outside the region, the league fields two inter-league teams. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Roller Derby (A-Team) competes in sanctioned Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) events, contributing to the league’s national rankings. The Low Rolling Deuces serve as the B-Team, building depth and experience in inter-league play against teams from cities like Albany, Schenectady, State College, and Southern Delaware.
Since becoming a WFTDA member league in 2014, the Radicals have competed on the national level, bringing NEPA’s tough, gritty derby style to tracks across the Northeast. Skater-operated and community-driven, this league is about more than sport—it’s about sisterhood, resilience, and celebrating strength in every form.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Roller Derby is a powerhouse of local athleticism, passion, and empowerment, representing NEPA on the national roller derby stage.
