Nursing Education at Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing
Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing at Lehigh Valley Health Network offers students a comprehensive nursing education designed to prepare graduates for careers as licensed registered nurses. The school has served the region for more than a century, educating generations of nurses who support healthcare throughout Schuylkill County and beyond.
Students complete a three-year dual enrollment program in partnership with Alvernia University. Graduates earn both a Diploma in Nursing and an Associate Degree in Applied Health Sciences. The curriculum combines classroom learning with hands-on clinical training that builds practical skills and confidence.
Faculty and leadership emphasize a supportive learning environment where students develop critical thinking skills and learn to provide safe, patient-centered care in a variety of healthcare settings.
Clinical Training and Learning Experience
The program integrates classroom instruction with clinical experiences at Lehigh Valley Health Network facilities. Students gain hands-on training at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill locations, including the S. Jackson Street and East Norwegian Street campuses.
A modern Simulation Center located near the nursing school provides additional training opportunities using advanced medical simulation technology. These experiences allow students to practice clinical decision-making and patient care skills before entering real-world healthcare environments.
Additional clinical sites, including LVH–Hazleton and partner healthcare agencies, further expand the learning experience and expose students to diverse healthcare settings.
