A Daring, Exhilarating Twist on Summer Fun in NEPA
As warm and sunny weather approaches, it’s time to start thinking about all of the fun things that you can do in the summer.
You might consider going swimming in the pool or hitting the beach. Maybe playing a little golf is your thing. Not me. When I hear “warm and sunny weather,” the first thing that comes to mind is SKYDIVING!
PA Skydive Center, Inc. is located in Hazle Township. Whether you’re a fan of heights or not, skydiving is one of the best ways to live your life to the fullest. You will walk out of there having a new perspective on life, and you will get to see how beautiful our world really is.
When my father turned 50 years old, he wanted to go skydiving to celebrate. The excitement on his face when he landed was unforgettable. I knew I wanted to skydive. So, four years later, when I turned 18 years old, I jumped out of a plane! I was hooked. I knew I wanted to be a licensed skydiver.
At PA Skydive Center, the instructors and coaches provide a lot of knowledge and first-hand training. From training through virtual reality sets, intensive review of safety procedures, and lots of practice, I had finally become a licensed skydiver after a year of training. Now at 19 years old, I am a B-licensed skydiver, and I am only six jumps away from reaching my 100th jump.
A one-time jump turned into a life-changing passion.
Throughout my skydiving journey, I have met some amazing people, and I’ve been lucky enough to make some crazy skydives with them. From doing back flips off the wing of the plane and some amazing sunset jumps to jumping out of a plane with a box of pizza, it has been quite a ride. One of my favorite jumps was a four-way female formation. Skydiving is a very male-dominated sport, so when you’re able to make a formation jump with all women, it is quite exciting.
Some of the best things about PA Skydive Center are the friendly and outgoing staff, the funny skydiving picture with the faces cut out so that you, your family, and friends can take funny pictures before or after your jump, and finally, the views. During the plane ride up to altitude, you see the city of Hazleton and some of the beautiful mountain ranges of Northeastern Pennsylvania. In my opinion, the views coming down at terminal velocity are even better.
