Island Picnic & Paddle Trip on the Susquehanna River
We spent this past weekend paddling from Falls to Harding with Susquehanna Kayak and Canoe Rentals for their Island Picnic & Paddle.
The sun was shining, the temperature sat at a comfortable 75 degrees, and the Susquehanna River was calm and inviting. Wildlife was everywhere. We spotted soaring eagles, wading herons, and geese passing by as we made our way downriver.
The highlight came at the halfway point when we pulled up to a quiet island for a picnic. Some of our favorite features were fresh, homemade foods like smoked gouda, smoked venison sausage, cowboy candy deviled eggs, and bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers stuffed with cream cheese. It was everything you could want after a morning on the river.
After filling up on good food and good company, we paddled the final stretch to the Apple Tree boat launch, taking in the views one last time.
From beginning to end, Susquehanna Kayak and Canoe made the trip fun and easy — and we’re already looking forward to our next adventure with them.
