Start at Niagara Falls State Park

Begin your visit at the oldest state park in the United States. Niagara Falls State Park in New York offers incredible vantage points of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls: American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls. Follow paved walking paths to scenic overlooks like Prospect Point, where you can feel the mist rising from the crashing water below. From here, you can also take the elevator down to the base of the gorge for one of the park’s most popular attractions.

Take a Boat Tour and Explore Goat Island

For a truly unforgettable experience, hop aboard the legendary Maid of the Mist boat tour. This iconic attraction takes visitors directly into the swirling mist at the base of Horseshoe Falls. You will be provided with a poncho, but be prepared to get a little wet as the boat approaches the thundering falls. The views from the water are incredible and offer one of the most dramatic perspectives of Niagara Falls.

You can’t skip Goat Island, located between the American and Horseshoe Falls. Visitors say it offers some of the best views and experiences in the park. One of the most unforgettable stops here is Cave of the Winds, where visitors descend into the Niagara Gorge and follow wooden walkways that lead right to the base of Bridal Veil Falls.

Standing on the famous Hurricane Deck puts you just feet from the crashing water as powerful winds and mist rush past for an exhilarating, up-close encounter with the falls. While exploring the island, take time to enjoy its scenic walking trails and overlooks, including Terrapin Point, where you can watch the Niagara River plunge dramatically over Horseshoe Falls.

Grab Lunch with a View

After a morning of adventure, grab lunch nearby at Top of the Falls Restaurant, located inside the park. Top of the Falls offers a unique dining experience with floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor decks overlooking Horseshoe Falls. The restaurant serves modern American favorites and regional dishes while guests enjoy one of the only dining views directly facing the iconic waterfall.
