D&H Rail-Trail Guide & Map

The D&H Rail-Trail spans 38 miles through NEPA’s forested hills, lakes and trail towns, offering a peaceful escape for hikers, bikers and runners. Along the way, you’ll encounter 11 unforgettable stops—from the Simpson Trailhead to Cascade Wye in Susquehanna—each steeped in history, scenery and small-town charm.

Based in Union Dale, the Rail-Trail Council of NEPA is a nonprofit transforming historic railroad beds into vibrant multi-use trails, including the D&H and O&W. These year-round paths preserve our region’s railroad heritage while creating spaces for hiking, biking, horseback riding, skiing and more.

From guided hikes and wildlife programs to races and yoga classes, the Council’s events bring people of all ages outdoors and foster a deeper connection with nature. But maintaining and expanding these trails takes community support.
