Picture This: Mountainfest at Montage Mountain

This weekend, we headed to Montage Mountain Resorts in Scranton for Mountainfest, the Northeast’s biggest winter sports and music festival. The two-day celebration filled the slopes with live music, high-energy competitions and plenty of creative fun.

We arrived for day two under bright blue skies and warm sunshine, the perfect conditions for the unofficial sendoff to the winter season. Skiers and snowboarders lined up for the fan-favorite pond skimming competition, charging down the slope in hopes of gliding across the icy water. Some riders skimmed cleanly across the surface while others splashed down midway or disappeared beneath the water, drawing laughs and cheers from the crowd.

As the afternoon turned to evening, the energy shifted from the slopes to the stage. Wheatus warmed up the crowd with an energetic set before Sugar Ray headlined the night’s concert. Fans packed the base area, singing along as the sun dipped behind the mountain and fireworks lit up the sky. It was a wild ride and easily one of the best parties on the mountain.
