Explore 15 miles of interconnected trails on Penobscot Mountain in southern Luzerne County

The Mocanaqua Tract is a system of loop trails open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding within Pinchot State Forest. The trails, consisting of the 2-mile Orange Loop, the 6-mile Brown Loop, the 8-mile Green Loop and the 7-mile Blue Loop, work their way up the north side of the mountain.

The trails also feature sweeping scenic views of the Susquehanna River and the greater Wyoming Valley. Along the way, keep an eye out for remnants from NEPA’s hard coal era and several unique rock formations. Parking and trail access is available at the end of Main Street in Mocanaqua, PA.
