The Plains Branch of the Osterhout Free Library has served Plains Township since 1968, offering books, programs, and community connection from its longtime location in the Municipal Building on North Main Street. Perched “on top of the hill,” this friendly neighborhood branch provides a welcoming space for residents of all ages to read, learn, and enjoy local events.
Known for its casual, engaging atmosphere, the Plains Branch is more than just a place to borrow books. Every Thursday, the library hosts a popular Movie Night complete with popcorn, games, and trivia, creating a fun and inclusive experience for families, teens, and seniors alike.
Cardholders can browse the branch’s collection, use computers, and access services that connect to the larger Luzerne County Library System. Membership also includes full access to the Central Branch and other Osterhout Library locations throughout Wilkes-Barre.
