A Summer Tradition Nearly 50 Years Running

On Thursday, we headed to Public Square for the kickoff of 2023 Wilkes-Barre Farmers Market season. Mayor George C. Brown officially opened the market while local musician, Dustin Douglas, quieted the growing crowd with a soulful rendition of the national anthem. The popular farmer’s market has been a Downtown staple since 1974. Every year, proud local farmers and vendors have filled Public Square with fresh produce, tasty food, artful crafts and so much more.

The Farmer’s Market is open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. every Thursday from late June through mid-November. Most market days, you’ll find familiar vendors like Brace’s Orchard, Beekeeper’s Daughter, El Rey Azteca, and more. And thanks to a variety of local farmers, you can skip a trip to the supermarket and stock up on some of the freshest produce around.

Of course, there’s also all that amazing farmer’s market food! Stop by for delicious potato pancakes, tacos, gyros, waffles and more. Fill up on fresh-baked local treats. And wash it down with a hand-squeezed lemonade.

In addition to the market’s wide variety of vendors, you can also catch live, local music as you enjoy a sunny lunch break or a bit of shopping.

Follow the City of Wilkes-Barre on social media, or visit their website for a full list of vendors and performances. And, as usual, we brought the cameral along for the ride. Check out our day at the Wilkes-Barre Farmers Market below!
