From May through November, themed rides like Sunset Rails & Ales, Pumpkin Pickin’ and Ice Cream Tours add extra fun to your ride. Two-seater tandems or four-seater quad bikes make it easy for couples, families and groups of friends to ride together.

Feel the Power Tour – It’s Electric

Cost: $125 Tandem Bike (seats 2) / $225 Quad Bike (seats 4)
Duration: 2 Hours

Hop on an electric rail bike and cruise 10 scenic miles along the Lackawaxen River on this unforgettable ride out of Hawley. You’ll spot wildlife, pass through charming railroad sites, and get a rare glimpse of the Brookfield Hydroelectric Power Plant at Lake Wallenpaupack. Reservations are not required, but Pennsylvania Rail Bike strongly recommends booking in advance to ensure availability. Securing a reservation guarantees a smooth and stress-free experience, allowing visitors to plan their railbike adventure with confidence.

Guests can visit the Pennsylvania Rail Bike website and click on the “Book Now” tab. From there, they can select a preferred date and time, then follow the prompts to complete the reservation and secure their spot.

  • When are tours available?
    Tours operate from Memorial Day through Halloween. Operating hours may vary, so it’s recommended to check the official website or contact the office for the most up-to-date schedule.
  • How do I book a tour?
    Reservations can be made online. For assistance, you can also call or text the ticket office at (570) 229-2147.
  • What types of railbikes are available?
    Pennsylvania Rail Bike offers two configurations:

    • Tandem (2-seater)
    • Quad (4-seater)
      Both types are equipped with electric pedal assist, ensuring a comfortable ride for all participants.
  • Are the railbikes electric?
    Yes, all railbikes feature electric pedal assist, allowing riders to enjoy the scenic journey with minimal effort.
  • Is it safe to ride on active train tracks?
    While the tracks are occasionally used by the Delaware Lackawaxen and Stourbridge Railroad (DLS), railbike tours are scheduled to ensure that no trains operate on the tracks during tours. Safety measures are in place to prevent any overlap.
  • When should I arrive?
    Arrive 30 minutes early — boarding starts 15 minutes before your tour begins.
  • What should I wear?
    For safety and comfort, it’s recommended to wear:

    • Weather-appropriate outerwear (e.g., hats, windbreakers, rain gear)
    • A shirt or tank top with comfortable pants or shorts
    • Sturdy closed-toe shoes with good traction (athletic shoes are recommended)
  • Are there any items I should not bring?
    To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests, please refrain from bringing:

    • Pets
    • Drugs or alcohol
    • Glass containers
    • Sandals, flats, or water socks
    • Skirts (unless for religious observance)
    • Music players (to maintain a peaceful environment)
  • What if it rains?
    Tours operate rain or shine. However, in cases of severe weather, tours may be rescheduled or canceled for safety reasons. Guests will be notified in such events.

Smoking is not allowed on the tour.
