Iroquois Trail | Scenic rail trail in Tunkhannock

The Iroquois Trail in Tunkhannock offers a peaceful 3.6-mile round-trip journey through the beauty of the Endless Mountains. This crushed-stone rail trail follows the former Lehigh Valley Railroad’s Montrose Branch, providing a smooth, flat surface ideal for walking, biking, or leisurely hikes. Its out-and-back layout makes it perfect for families, casual riders, and nature lovers alike.

The trail begins at the Bob Massaker Sports Complex, where visitors will find convenient parking and access to the wide, well-maintained path. The route passes through meadows, quiet woodlands, and rocky outcrops with occasional glimpses of Tunkhannock Creek below. Gentle inclines and shaded stretches through hemlock and hardwood forests make it an enjoyable experience year-round. Along the way, benches offer rest stops where visitors can relax and take in the forest scenery.

Additional parking is available along Sunnyside Road near the Wyoming County 911 Center, offering easy access for shorter treks.

The Iroquois Trail in Tunkhannock delivers a scenic outdoor escape with tranquil forest views and a smooth, family-friendly path.
