Join the Carbondale Arts Alliance’s annual citywide Scarecrow Festival! Walk around downtown Carbondale and see all the scarecrows local businesses decorated for this event. In Memorial Park there will also be a marketplace with vendors, a petting zoo, face painting and live music.

Train ride will last approximately 2.5 hours; departing Steamtown at 10:00 a.m., making a short pit stop at Sweeney Beach about 10:30 a.m. to drop off LRCA Riverfest participants, and continuing on to Carbondale with an approximate 12:15pm arrival. There will be a 2-hour layover at the Carbondale Station for the event. Returning train ride will last approximately 2.75 hours; departing Carbondale at 2:15 p.m., making a short pit stop at Sweeney Beach around 4:00 p.m. to pick up LRCA Riverfest participants and returning to Steamtown around 4:30 p.m.

Carbondale Station Description and Details: Take a scenic train ride through the Lackawanna Valley along the old Delaware & Hudson Railroad tracks to Carbondale, PA.

History: Carbondale’s present-day train station was built on the site of the Delaware and Hudson Seventh Avenue train station that was opened on February 1, 1896. Local and express trains, both north and south, from Carbondale arrived and departed from Carbondale on a daily basis. In the 1950s, as many as fifteen passenger trains departed daily from this station for Scranton.

Amenities: Light food and refreshments will be available for purchase as part of the Autumn Marketplace.
