Free, Friday Summer Concert Series Makes its Way to Hazleton
For three Fridays this summer, the south side of Hazleton will be rockin’ the night away. The City of Hazleton, alongside the Luzerne County Visitors Bureau and Hazleton Parks and Recreation, will be presenting the new Rockin’ the Mountain Friday concert series.

Don’t miss this critically-acclaimed Elton John tribute act as they dole out hit after hit from the ever-enigmatic rock legend. With wild, Elton-esque outfits and classics like “Your Song,” “Rocket Man” and so much more, you’re sure to be singing and dancing along all night. And get in early for local opening act, Six Shots.

An Evening with Stevie: Tribute to Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac
This Friday features an unforgettable evening of eclectic smash hits from the enchanting Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. This spot-on tribute whisks audiences away on a journey through one of rock-n-roll’s most beloved discographies. Local favorites, Leighann & Company are scheduled to open the evening with their own twist on crowd-pleasing hits.

On the final Friday, the world’s longest-running Billy Joel tribute band takes the stage with an electric balance of pop ballads and soulful rock-n-roll. Catch favorites like “Piano Man,” “Vienna,” Uptown Girl” and so many more. And don’t miss local opener and jukebox party band, Ostrich Hat.

“The City of Hazleton has been building up to this event since 2016,” said Hazleton Mayor Jeff Cusat. He also recalled similar, smaller events taking place at CAN DO Community Park (then called Center City Park) and City View Park in the recent past. He continued, “The stage at City View Park was installed in 2018 foreseeing the major events that would be held there.”
Bring a blanket, some snacks & your dancing shoes
Each evening will feature a different professional tribute band and a local opening act. All shows are free of charge and open to all ages. According Mayor Cusat, the decision to host the concert series at City View Park was simple. “It is a beautiful, 22-acre facility that offers a great outdoor feel while still in the city limits.”
The spacious park features a stage, six lighted and covered pavilions, ample parking, restrooms, a walking trail and plenty of space to spread out. “And it’s all far enough away from the residential areas to not create a nuisance,” Mayor Cusat added.
The event will also host a variety of food and beverage vendors. Gates will open at 5 p.m. prior to each show with music scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
City View Park in Hazleton is a great place to host a big event, or just to come by and play. The park is a spacious 17.5 acres and features everything you need to have a gathering.
It has a stage with a dance area, 5 lighted pavilions, lots of parking space and restrooms. The park has an inclusive playground, picnic areas, and a paved walking path. Make sure to bring along your dog for a visit to Bailey’s Bark Park, too.
