Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Wyoming County | Gardening education rooted in community service in Tunkhannock

Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Wyoming County bring expert gardening knowledge and environmental education to Tunkhannock. As part of the Penn State Extension program, these certified volunteers promote sustainable horticulture and conservation through community outreach and hands-on learning.

Community Gardening Support & Education

The Master Gardeners share university-backed gardening advice with residents through events and workshops. They offer approachable, practical guidance designed to help both new and experienced gardeners succeed. Their mission supports healthy ecosystems, food access and outdoor learning.

Local Projects & Public Engagement

Each year, volunteers manage a Pollinator Monitoring Plot at the Wyoming County Conservation District. They also lead the Community Seed Exchange, operate a Seed Library for year-round planting, and engage with the public during the Wyoming County Fair. Their efforts highlight the impact of native plants, pollinators and growing your own food.

Hands-On Sustainability Programs

The Master Gardeners teach the Seed to Supper vegetable gardening series for beginners and offer free educational talks. Their annual Think Spring Gardening Seminar draws local gardeners for a full day of learning and community building. They also contribute to local conservation through collaborative service projects.
