Carbon County Friends of Animals | Providing shelter & second chances for cats in Jim Thorpe

Carbon County Friends of Animals in Jim Thorpe is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the care, protection and rehoming of unwanted cats. Founded in 1998, the privately run shelter was created to meet the urgent need for a safe space for felines in Carbon County. Unlike county-funded animal services, the organization receives no government support and relies entirely on fundraising efforts and public donations to operate.

Shelter, Advocacy & No-Kill Goals

The group’s mission centers on eliminating animal suffering through compassionate care, sheltering and responsible adoption. They work tirelessly to house as many cats as possible without resorting to euthanasia. Every animal receives food, medical care, and attention from staff and volunteers until they find a permanent home.

Spay/Neuter Support & Public Education

The organization also advocates for low-cost spaying and neutering programs to reduce overpopulation. Educational outreach helps raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare. These efforts aim to improve long-term outcomes for cats across the region.

Carbon County Friends of Animals continues to give unwanted cats a safe haven and the chance at a loving home through compassion, education and community support.
