Mission Statement
CEO/Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank, is a regional food bank servicing charitable organizations by providing food to alleviate hunger and promote proper nutrition. The mission of CEO is to promote self-sufficiency among low-income and vulnerable populations by confronting the causes and reducing the effects of poverty.

CEO/Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank in Jenkins Township is a nonprofit organization working to end hunger in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties. A program of the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO), the food bank partners with more than 160 agencies—including pantries, shelters and community groups—to deliver healthy, nutritious food to individuals and families in need.
Distributing Nutritious Food & Promoting Health
The Weinberg Food Bank prioritizes health by offering more than just shelf-stable goods. It focuses on distributing fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and dairy products to improve nutrition for all, especially vulnerable groups like seniors and children. Seasonal outreach includes after-school and summer meal programs and a large Thanksgiving distribution to ensure families can enjoy a holiday meal.
Community Action & Volunteer Opportunities
The food bank offers multiple ways to get involved. Community members can donate online, by phone or by mail. Hosting a Facebook fundraiser or holding a virtual food drive further amplifies support by using the food bank’s purchasing power. Volunteers are always welcome to help pack and organize food for delivery across the four-county region.
